  • The Student Council at Fort Fairfield Middle High School serves as a premier student-led organization focused on developing leadership, fostering school spirit, promoting civic responsibility, and ensuring active student voice within the school community. Guided by professional standards supported by the Maine Principals' Association (MPA)—which offers dedicated leadership training, workshops, and development opportunities for Student Council advisors and student leaders across Maine—the organization equips elected officers and representatives with real-world skills in governance, communication, and project planning.

Key Pillars of the Student Council:

    • Student Voice & Representation: Serves as a vital bridge between the student body and school administrators, allowing students to advocate for their peers, voice constructive ideas, and contribute to decisions shaping school life.

    • Leadership Development: Provides students with practical experiences in parliamentary procedure, event coordination, public speaking, teamwork, and fiscal responsibility through organized committees and council roles.

    • School & Community Engagement: Organizes traditional school events, pep rallies, spirit weeks, and social activities that boost school pride while spearheading community service projects and civic initiatives throughout the Fort Fairfield area.

  • The National Honor Society (NHS) chapter at Fort Fairfield Middle High School recognizes high-achieving high school students who demonstrate excellence in academics, character, and school leadership. Supported in Maine through professional development, guidance, and regional coordination provided by the Maine Principals' Association (MPA)—which oversees the Maine National Honor Society (MNHS)—the organization elevates scholarship, civic involvement, and ethical citizenship across Maine schools.

The Four Pillars of National Honor Society:

    • Scholarship: Demonstrating academic commitment, achievement, and a dedication to lifelong learning.

    • Leadership: Exhibiting initiative, positive peer influence, and problem-solving skills both in the classroom and in extra-curricular pursuits.

    • Service: Engaging in voluntary, uncompensated contributions to the school, local community, and charitable causes.

    • Character: Upholding exemplary standards of integrity, responsibility, respect, and ethical behavior.

Key Program Highlights & Statewide Opportunities:

    • Student Governance & State Convention: Members participate in regional events and the annual Maine NHS State Convention hosted in coordination with the MPA. Eligible students can run for state officer positions or represent their school on the MNHS Executive Board across regional districts.

    • Community Engagement: Members organize service initiatives and peer mentoring programs that foster school spirit and address local community needs.

    • Scholarships & Post-Secondary Pathways: As members of a nationally recognized honor society affiliated with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and supported by the MPA, eligible seniors gain access to national scholarship awards and college recognition opportunities.

  • French National Honor Society (Société Honoraire de Français)

The French National Honor Society (Société Honoraire de Français) chapter at Fort Fairfield Middle High School recognizes high school students who excel academically in French language studies and demonstrate a passion for Francophone culture. Sponsored nationally by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), the society highlights scholarship, cultural appreciation, and civic responsibility, connecting students to Maine's rich Acadian and Francophone heritage.

    Eligibility & Membership Standards:

    • Academic Excellence: Candidates are selected based on maintaining a high grade point average (typically 90% or higher) across French courses (such as French I and II) and advancing into upper-level honors coursework.

    • Cultural & Community Engagement: Members participate in activities and events celebrating Francophone music, history, traditions, and local Acadian heritage.

    • Leadership & Service: Inductees serve as peer mentors, organize cultural projects, and build enthusiasm for language learning within the school and local community.

    Graduation Recognition & Distinction:

    • Official Regalia & Honors: Inducted members are eligible to wear tri-colored honor cords or stoles at graduation.

    • Seal of Biliteracy Connection: Participation in upper-level French courses and the French National Honor Society complements students' pathways toward earning the State of Maine's Seal of Biliteracy.

    •  Scholarships: Members are eligible for scholarships from AATF and le Club Français.

  • The Middle School Show Choir at Fort Fairfield Middle High School offers 6th through 8th-grade vocalists an opportunity to combine vocal music, dynamic choreography, and stage performance. Open to students in good standing who are enrolled in Middle School Chorus, the show choir provides an elevated platform for performance art, teamwork, and artistic expression.

    Program Highlights & Performances:

    • Prerequisite Participation: Students build foundational vocal technique and sight-singing skills in the MS Chorus program, which qualifies them to participate in the Show Choir ensemble.

    • Repertoire & Performance: Members rehearse and perform varied vocal and dance routines, showcased during school concerts and local community events.

    • State & District Festivals: Middle School Show Choir members participate in regional events, including District and State Festival requirements hosted by the Maine Music Educators Association (MMEA). At these events, such as the Maine State Show Choir Festival, ensembles perform before professional adjudicators for feedback, adjudication ratings (such as Gold or Silver division awards), and special recognition for outstanding musicianship and choreography.
